Main fields of Museum’s activities are:

a) elaboration of scientific grounds of natural museology; creation, enrichment and conservation of collections;

b) scientific study of biological diversity and ecology of certain groups of present-day and fossil flora and fauna in the Western regions of Ukraine;

c) educationalist and popularization activities.

Science schools:

a) paleontology, since mid-19th century;

b) soil biology, since the end of the 19th century;

c) phytocoenology, since mid-20th century.

The Museum offers for joint work:

a) exhibitions of natural rarities and unique collections of the 19th and 20th centuries;

b) scientific and popular publications on biodiversity, bioecology, nature conservation and museology;

c) keys for determination of animals, catalogues, dictionaries, computer databases;

d) items of taxidermy, collections of soil monoliths, rocks and minerals, herbarium and zoological materials;

e) eco-educational programs.
