Main research areas of the Institute are:

– chemistry of biologically active peptides, proteins, nucleic acids and their components;

– chemical models of biological processes, synthesis and study of biological properties of new bioregulators for application in medicine and agriculture;

– development of scientific principles of synthesis and technology of obtaining practically important products and materials from hydrocarbon raw materials.

The Institute has science schools in:

1. fine organic synthesis of natural compounds and their organoelement analogues, chemistry of bioregulation processes (leader – Prof. V. P. Kukhar, Dr. Chem. Sc., NAS academician).

2. metal-complex catalysis of organic reactions (leader – Prof. H. O. Kovtun, Dr. Chem. Sc., NAS corresponding member).

3. Zeolite catalysis in oil-processing and petrochemical processes (founder – Prof. P. M. Galich, Dr. Chem. Sc.).

Developments proposed for introduction:

– a method of supressing vital functions of microorganisms by antisignature oligodesoxyribonucleotides;

– novel biostimulators for plant cultivation;

– high-efficiency fungicide to protect grain crops and vegetables from fungal diseases;

– mathematical methods, models, algorithms based on man-made neuron networks and respective software for predicting substance properties and quality control of technological processes;

– environment-friendly engine lubricants on the basis of renewable raw materials;

– technological liquids for oil and gas extraction;

– technologies for anticorrosion protection of pipelines;

– a technology for disposal of liquid toxic waste.
