The principal study areas of the Institute are:

– conversion and stabilization of electromagnetic energy parameters;

– improving the efficiency and reliability of electromechanical energy conversion;

– analysis, optimization and automation of electrical power systems modes and their elements;

– information and measuring systems and metrology control in power industry.

The following science schools work at the Institute:

– conversion and stabilization of electromagnetic energy parameters (headed by NAS academician A. K. Shidlovsky);

– improving the efficiency and reliability of electromechanical energy conversion (headed by NAS academician G. G. Shchastlivy);

– automation and information service of electrical power processes (headed by NAS academician B. S. Stogniy);

– electrical and magnetic measurements (headed by NAS academician F. B. Grinevich).

Research results ready for commercialization:

– induction channel furnaces for melting ferrous and non-ferrous metals;

– a mobile set for air-plasma cutting;

– a semi-automatic machine for welding in carbon dioxide atmosphere;

– inductors for heating plane rolled products;

– ozone generators;

– a reactive power source for excitation systems of three-phase induction generators;

– automated electromechanical systems of constant-flow metering of loose materials with lower-level pickups of DR-1 type and BK-1 weight adjuster;

– automated electromechanical systems for control of technological parameters in power systems;

– RENAP-type voltage controllers and PEL-type electronic starters;

– high-frequency transistor generators for facilities of induction technologies;

– a plant for dressing dispersed mineral raw materials and industrial waste in an electric field;

– powerful converters for power and electric technological loads supply (installations of electric spark dispersion of current-conducting materials, induction installations for electromagnetic processing of metals and alloys, installations of electric contact heating);

– a general-purpose wide-range stabilizer of alternating current;

– a pulse transistor controller of alternating current voltage;

– a programmable temperature controller for high-temperature electric resistance furnaces;

– a control block for electrode-wire feeding in welding.
