Principal study areas of the Institute are:

– investigation of pulse effect of high-intensity energy flows on multiphase media, various materials and structures and development of new technologies on this basis;

– developing the theory of pulse processes of energy conversion, producing pulse sources of high-density energy and systems for their control.

The following science schools work at the Institute:

– discharge physics in complex condensed media;

– physics of disordered systems;

– physical aspects of intensifying oil and water recovery from horizons;

– pulse ladle melt processing.

Research results proposed for cooperative commercialization:

– electric-discharge technologies for treatment of oil, gas and water wells;

– electro-hydro-pulse technology of ladle melt treatment;

– electric-discharge technologies of stamping, calibration and expansion;

– electric-discharge technologies for ruining hard soils under water;

– electric-discharge technologies for preparation and regeneration of cutting fluids;

– electro-hydro-pulse technology for decomposition of engineering rubber products with metal cord;

– electric-discharge removal of strong cores and sand blends;

– a range of pulse current generators;

– a range of high-voltage pulse power condensers.
