Main lines of research:

high-energy physics and nuclear physics, electromagnetic interaction physics, physics and engineering of electron accelerators.

Academician A. K. Valter science school in nuclear physics and accelerator physics works at the Institute.

Developments proposed for cooperative commercialization:

1. ‘NESTOR’ X-ray generator based on Compton backscattering;

2. the project of SALO recirculator - electron accelerator with the energy up to 730 MeV and with a continuous beam for research into high-energy physics, nuclear physics, and free-electron laser physics;

3. medical devices using silicon radiation detectors;

4. reconditioning of type AU-1500 iodine charcoal filters spent at NPP through the use of NSC KIPT design documentation and technology. Development of processes and associated equipment for reconstruction of air ventilating systems and active gas purification of the controlled NPP area with the use of techniques developed in Ukraine;

5. development and production of domestic technological Compton tomograph;

6. application of isotopes in medicine and other areas;

7. development and production of systems for non-destructive examination of NPP materials and components with the use of nuclear physics methods. Elaboration of nuclear physics methods to detect fissile materials in nuclear waste.
