The Centre of Practical Informatics was set up on March 12, 1993 by NAS Presidium resolution ¹ 548.

Research and science-organizing activities of the Centre of Practical Informatics are aimed at informational monitoring and management of NAS activities and resources.

The main tasks of the Centre are:

– research into tools and methods for monitoring and management of NAS activities and resources;

– research into properties of the information infrastructure of NAS entities, as well as system (corporate) effects of NAS entities interaction;

– development of approaches to determining NAS resources in terms of information backup to the processes of their formation, contents, development and use;

– development of philosophy and methodology for creating the system of monitoring and management of NAS activities and resources on the basis of advanced information technologies, with using the properties of information infrastructure of NAS entities and means of information backup to the processes of formation, contents, development and use of NAS resources;

– working out the requirements to the NAS corporate information system and to its separate components (NAS information portal and respective portal information resource, united NAS electronic mail, a ‘common’ for NAS point of access to Internet resources, information system of the NAS Presidium boardroom, information infrastructure of NAS Presidium etc.);

– development, practical implementation and backup of: the NAS information portal and its information resource, information system of the NAS Presidium boardroom, united NAS electronic mail, corporate information network etc.

The Centre has worked out the requirements for and jointly with ‘RQL-Ukraine’ developed, constructed and implemented the engineering infrastructure of the information backup system for the NAS Presidium boardroom.

The Centre has created a computer network in the NAS Presidium premises, it is creating and building up joint information resources of the NAS Presidium, backs up the NAS Presidium post server, provides Internet for NAS Presidium, as well as supports the Internet-site of the NAS of Ukraine – http://www.nas.gov.ua.
