The Crimean Science Center under the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry for Education and Science of Ukraine was organized for increasing the role of science in regional development, implementation of effective regional policy and coordination of state and regional interests. The Center is a state scientific non-profit organization that directs efforts of scholars, irrespective of their specialization and departmental subordination, towards solving priority regional interdisciplinary problems in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. The Center carries out research in priority areas for dealing with urgent regional problems that is coordinated jointly by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry for Education and Science of Ukraine and agreed with the authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

The principal aims of the Crimean Science Center are:

– scientific backup to the solution of relevant integrated problems in the Crimean region, first and foremost, in economy, environment protection, resource-saving technologies, information science, cultural and spiritual development;

– promoting the development of fundamental and applied studies carried out in research institutions and schools of higher learning of the Crimean region;

– educational activities and the improvement of the intellectual potential of the region, integration of science and education;

– ensuring the use of novel R&D achievements and innovations jointly with the Crimean authorities and the Crimea Republican Center of Scientific and Technological Information.
