Prydniprovsky Science Center’s activities focus on priorities in dealing with urgent problems of the Prydniprovia region (Dniepropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Kirovograd oblasts).
Main research areas are:
– preservation and restoration of the natural environment in Prydniprovia;
– integrated use and saving of mineral raw materials, power resources and recycled materials;
– improving the overall performance of mining and metallurgical industry of the region through the development and introduction of new equipment and advanced technologies;
– developing high-efficiency equipment and technologies, conversion in mechanical engineering.
Scientific schools on problems of mechanics, designing space-rocket systems, metallurgy, chemistry, medicine, agriculture, construction and architecture, transport, nature management, resources and energy saving have been formed at the Center’s institutions.
Scholars of the Center’s institutes have developed the Concept of social and economic development of the Prydniprovia region, the Concept of energy saving in Dnipropetrovsk oblast, the Integrated program of energy saving in Dnipropetrovsk oblast, the Program of secondary resources utilization, mathematical models of operating complex engineering facilities. R&D potential of Prydniprovia is investigated. Energy-saving programs are implemented in Dniepropetrovsk oblast. Mathematical models were used in designing and operating various complex engineering facilities.
The Center, together with the NAS Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy, proposes the project ‘Prospects of technological processing of the coal from Western Donbas and Dniprobas for industrial liquid-fuel production’ for cooperative upgrading.
It also proposes for introduction to practice the Integrated R&D program: ‘To design and produce equipment and technologies for improving the utilization of secondary resources (waste products) of mining and metallurgical industries, which provide an increase in production efficiency, reduction in the negative impact of toxic waste products, rise in environmental safety and improvement of the population health’.
