The Institute of Applied Optics carries out fundamental and applied R&D works according to principal objectives set by NAS Presidium Resolutions ¹ 155 of June 1, 1994 and ¹ 216 of July 11, 2001 in the following areas:

– optical holography;

– optical methods of nondestructive| control;

– physics of lasers and interaction of laser radiation with matter;

– optoelectronic| methods of information recording, processing and presentation;

– protective optical technologies.

Developments proposed for cooperative commercialization:

1. methods of digital synthesis of optical diffraction elements for protective technologies with a view to their use as independent protective elements or providing extra protection levels in HPE;

2. development and production of remote optical-fiber sensors of vibration, temperature and pressure for controlling and measuring parameters of technological processes in industry;

3. a laser emission analyzer intended for express analysis of quantitative and qualitative composition of hard materials and rocks with resolution of up to 10-4 %, its analysis time is under 5 minutes and no preliminary sample preparation is needed. There is no need of using auxiliary chemicals;

4. laser technological equipment intended for marking various metal products. It provides deposition of fast graphic and digital information on the surface of any shape. Its applications range from the through numeration of holographic elements to the manufacture of souvenirs;

5. optical spectral devices; development and manufacture of spectrographs and monochromators for the spectral range of 200-1100 nm with CCD-based photoelectric spectrum registration.
