The Institute of Regional Research carries out fundamental and applied studies of:

– processes of regional policy forming, systems of management and environmental-and-economic regulation of regional development; processes of changing property forms in regions, development of their productive, social and market infrastructure;

– programs and models of regulating resource saving, using the labour, productive and R&D potential of the regions; elaboration of scientific principles for modeling the regional strategy of socio-economic development and mechanisms of efficient systems of management;

– principles and applied issues of transborder collaboration in western boundary regions of Ukraine.

Scientific school on developing industrial production and entrepreneurship in the region (professor Ye. I. Boyko, Dr. Econ.; professor V. B. Voytsekhovsky, Dr. Econ.; professor M. A. Kozoriz, Dr. Econ., Cand. Econ. M. P. Goryn, Cand. Econ. O. M. Lyutkevych).

Scientific school on international economic activities and transborder collaboration (professor P. Yu. Belenky Dr. Econ.; Cand. Econ. N. A. Mikula, Cand. Econ. N. I. Homolska).

Scientific school of regional statistics is being formed (professor Ya. O. Poburko, Dr. Econ.; professor Z. V. Gerasymchuk, Dr. Econ.; Cand. Econ. S. O. Matkovsky, Cand. Econ. Ya. Ya. Pushak).

The Institute proposes for cooperative commercialization:

– Practical recommendations for and models of social passport of the territory.

– Practical recommendations for assessing the investment attractiveness of businesses.

– Practical recommendations ‘The development of priority infrastructural links under globalization and regionalization (problems, prospects, regional aspects)’.
