Priority research areas of the Institute are: – operator methods of functional analysis and linear algebra and their applications; – theory of differential equations and dynamic systems; – thermodynamic fundamentals for constructing the mathematical models of mechanics of deformable bodies, taking into account the structure and interconnection between processes of different nature; – mathematical methods for calculation, optimization and prediction of deformability, strength, durability and behavior of mechanical systems. The Institute maintains and increases its high research potential. It has established science schools in mathematical modeling and analysis of physico-mechanical processes and contact phenomena in homogeneous bodies and for homogeneous composite structures with constant and temperature-dependent properties; in problems of continual-thermodynamic modeling and optimization of nonlinear locally nonequilibrium systems; in nonclassical problems of the theory of differential equations with partial derivatives and analytical methods of approximation theory. Lately it has formed research schools in mathematical problems of electromechanothermodiffusion, in functional-operator and algebraic methods, and the theory of integrable and dissipative dynamic systems on infinite dimensional manifolds, which can be applied to self-organization phenomena. Studies within these areas led to a number of fundamental results of the international level. For cooperative introduction we propose the following projects: 1. an apparatus for nondestructive optical control of hardening stresses in sheet glass products; 2. a system of means for anti-vibration protection and control of dynamic regime in a drill column; 3. a unified design of tube rod made of reinforced glass- or basalt-plastic materials; 4. methods for thermovacuum treatment of electrovacuum devices; 5. a computer system for dynamic analysis of motion of man and assessing the quality of prosthetic appliance of lower limbs; 6. procedures of producing ion-implanted GaAs structures for microelectronic devices; 7. methods to evaluate composite strength by their dynamic rigidity and damping; 8. a laser technology to synthesize thin films of luminescent nitride materials for plane displays.
